Mark K. McAlister DDS, MS
In an effort to understand how people are so different and yet very similar, I chose the more personalized field of dentistry. This attitude probably started when I was growing up in the small town of Yukon, Oklahoma (just west of Oklahoma City). I went to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, because I didn't want to be just another number.
I then received my D.D.S. from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1981, and I completed a one-year hospital dental residency in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My graduate orthodontic training was accomplished at the University of Iowa, where I developed a standardized questionnaire to measure change in self-esteem of orthodontics patients.
My wife, Laurie, and I are proud parents of two teenage daughters, Kylie and Ali, who keep us busy with many family activities.
Don't be surprised if I ask you as many questions as you ask me! Keep that in mind as we discuss the different ways the specialty of orthodontics can help you.
